Keeping Time, Carrying Wisdom

Mayra Armijo Ugalde grew up inside a living tradition.
As a Tonalpoulque — rooted in the lineage of Mesoamerican timekeepers — her work reaches into ancient systems for understanding cycles, archetypes, human nature and our relationship to the larger world.

But Mayra's work is not about preserving ancestral knowledge behind glass.
It is meant to be lived.

Her work integrates plant medicine traditions, ritual practice, and ancestral knowledge with modern frameworks, offering a bridge between ancient cosmology and contemporary healing. Mayra is an artist, author, columnist, lecturer, and producer whose work safeguards and shares the values, traditions, and spiritual philosophies of her lineage.

She currently serves as Vice President of the Mexican Association of Pre-Hispanic Martial Arts Xilam A.C., and is a founding member of Fundación Quetzalcopilli A.C. and Vía Para La Nueva Era Foundation. A black belt and instructor in Xilam Mexican Martial Arts, she was honored with the “Knight Eagle” medal in Mexico (2020). In 2024, she became President of the board of the Sanctuary for the Sacred Arts Foundation.
